    Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account to use the dividend income dashboard?+

No. Your holdings are saved in your own browser, so the dashboard works right away with no signup. The trade-off is that the data stays on this device and browser. Use the export button to keep a backup or move your portfolio to another device.

What if my stock or ETF isn't in the quick-fill list?+

Quick-fill is optional. Type any ticker yourself, then enter your shares, the dividend per share paid over a year, and how often it pays. You can find the dividend and payment schedule on your broker's page or the company's investor relations site. Anything you enter is saved and can be edited later.

Where do the dividend amounts and prices come from?+

Quick-fill uses a built-in list of popular dividend stocks and ETFs with approximate prices and yields. They are estimates, not live market data, so compare them with your broker or the company's investor page and edit any holding to match your real numbers.

How is the monthly income chart calculated?+

Each holding's annual dividend is your shares multiplied by the annual dividend per share. That is split evenly across the payments the holding makes in a year and placed in the months it pays. Monthly payers count in every month. For quarterly, semi-annual, and annual payers the exact months are estimates, so pick the payment cycle that matches your holding.

    Are the payment months exact?+

No. The calendar shows an estimated schedule based on how often each holding pays and the payment cycle you choose. Actual ex-dividend and payment dates are set by each company or fund and can shift from year to year, so always confirm dates with the company.

    What is yield on cost?+

Yield on cost compares your annual dividend income to what you originally paid for the shares, rather than today's price. Enter your average cost per share on a holding to include it in the portfolio's yield on cost.

    Is this financial advice?+

No. The dashboard is a planning and estimation tool. It does not recommend any investment, and dividends can be reduced or cancelled at any time.
